Compelling and oh so complicated. Incredible. I love it.

thanks Michelle. I write a lot. Everything I post needs revision, but I like the feedback I get here. It has really helped me have more confidence.

Thanks Lavender.

I was surprised that I had so much empathy for the frog dude. I did as a kid too, as in "wait a minute. what a little spoiled brat to treat the frog in this manner." I never likened it to arranged marriage till the other day. It seems all about that to me, a daughter being married off to a "rich old waddler."

Lucy

thanks prairieplains. I like the plant photo for your av.

Candy, this comment means a lot to me. It hits home. I love your av picture of the rooster, little chanticleer.

Thanks LB. :)

Revision, incompleteness, or final where it the line? The word final draft is an ominous thing isn't it? This is a challenge within art and expression, or maybe it's not, depending on the person. And depending on the person it can be simple ease of path, or a plague upon the soul as to whether they chose to never put their stamp of finality on something. For the artist, the journey may be at the pinnacle of commencement, where for the reader, viewer or listener the journey may be completely mapped with a colourful road of messages, symbolisms or enchanting ideas. For me personally, I like to think of my work as if I'm building paper airplanes. Sometimes they fly and sometimes they don't. I just keep building new versions in hopes that I will hit on a 'design' that is poignant enough to garner something of a reaction in others. If I don't like the plane I try again because revising it too much after you offer it for flight folds the paper too much also, and then the thing will just never fly. Often times the one with the most rickety flight path is a chalice full of meaning to everyone but me. I know this is not the greatest metaphor for expression, and I certainly agree with revision as I revise sometimes for weeks on end... it's just I think that sometimes it's good to let the beholder decide what is finished and what is not, and then to let it be a mystery as to whether we believe it to be so also. :-)

Lucy, to me, you are a master poet. But what does my opinion matter? It doesn't matter really, but I am entitled to think and feel what I want and so it must be true... at least in my world. In my world, your poems are complete and beautiful and intricate. I would be proud to have a book on my shelf with your name on its spine.

Thanks so much Michelle. I believe in revision, but not too soon or doggedly. I think it is more of an intuitive process, an aha process. I'm glad you read my work. Thanks for your kind support.

Lucy, off for a Mother's Day walk

I really like this poem; it's fun, and true, and very vivid.
